Nice coloring book but definately for older people. Very detailed pictures but need a lot of patience and time if you want them done rite. If your kid just likes coloring and football, he’s good to go. If he likes it to be more accurate and in the lines, takes time but worth it.

I had to buy this for a college class. It was engaging and covered the basic points needed for investigative interviewing. Great for a beginner or someone who wants to review the foundations of the field.

The book was less detailed for an internal HR / non criminal lawsuit investigation than it seemed it would be.

If you are in the early stages of your investigative career than this is the book to get you started. If you're an old pro than this is a wonderful refresher and handy to have as a guide. Kudos to Inge Black for keeping Charles Yeschke's name on the book. He was well known in the business and respected throughout the security industry among many others. As a security professional I strongly recommend this book!

How do you say effectively I like this book. It's not just for beginners but for senior veterans as well. We all need a refresher. Pat Clawson stated in his Prefacein this book "I have learned repeatly throughout my career that every investigation is only as good as the information it gathers. Interviewing is a form of communication and evidence gathering." I have to highlight Chap. 13 which is titled "Investigative Interviewing: One Hundred Things You Should Know" These 100 point in my opinion sum up the The Art of Investigative Interviewing. Trust me Interviewing is an art. I had a close friend who told me about the guy who managed his garage and the auditors told him thousands of dollars has been stolen. He brought in the manager, who denied everything. He then totallydiscarded everything on his desk, to the floor and said You SOB your either going to jail right now OR your going to return every nickel you stole. He confessed and returned the money. His style worked, all of us have war stories. Interviewing is an ART.

A young man, son of an official of large trapping and fur company is given the privilege to explore the West, accompanied by a trusted Indian. He gets to live with an Indian tribe and participate in everything from war parties to hunting buffalo. This book is well written and authoritative. It inserts the reader right into life in those times with regard to customs and values of Indian tribes of the times, before the buffalo almost disappeared. Very discriptive and fascinating accounts of hunting and chasing and killing buffalo. Read how the Indians tribes spent their time stealing horses, hunting buffalo, making war and making peace with each other. A must read for students and readers who appreciate the outdoor survival skills and history of the old West of Louis and Clark. Almost no typos and easy to read, with lots of references to Indian names for people and places. Helps you understand how the tribes could be so savage and yet so social and respectful of the earth and afterlife.

I grew up in Minnesota and became friend with native Americans in my early youth. I have always loved going with my husband and children out West during the summers for many years. this was the West of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. the whole feel of the gorgeous land out there was for me like being home. my affinity towards native Americans and the love of the land yearns to be back in time when I could live with the Blackfeet, their families, and live the honest, loving, nature respecting way of life.

I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow at first but soon I found I was half way. Yes I do recommend it, if you like books involving Indians. This takes place after Lewis and Clark before there were very many white people. A good read for most ages.

This story is told in the manner of a young mate's journey, it is hard to follow in some areas due to have'n the language of the Blackfoot Indians, I don't speak their language and so I had no idea of how to pronounce their words, thankfully though the author followed the Indian word with the American mean'n of it. For that reason I gave this story a 3 star.

This was well written storey. Adventure and action with a very real sense. I really enjoyed this book!! Great read

Schultz was an exellent story teller. Realizing that this is a story, as told to him by another man, the story is vibrant and alive. My only complaint was that it ended so soon!

An excellent story most fitting for any that have interest in the history of the west from the time when euro-americans first met with the original americans and all who enjoy real first person accounts of life on the plains and mountians living with the native americans.

This is a great book if you are building a muscle car. It's less useful if you have a 5.4L, 3-valve truck engine and are looking for tips in that context. If you are shopping for modular Ford engine books, you may have read my review on Richard Holdener's "Building 4.5/5.4.L Ford Horsepower on the Dyno," book. My lament with this book is the same; a dearth of specifics on the 3-V 5.4L truck powerplant. This book, however, does have a modecum of specific info on the 5.4L 3-V and lots more practical nuts-n-bolts info. Because of the general architectural similarities between all the modular engines, the nuts-n-bolts approach covers a lot of ground generally. Of the two books, this one provides a more "hearty fare" that could be useful to a truck owner... if he understand the difference in context between the basic needs of a torquey truck engine vs a high-revving sporty engine. This book is geared towards the power side of the equation and that's exactly what the author intended. No foul! I came away a lot more knowledgeable regarding the Ford Modular engines. A few specifics on building a 5.4L torquer would have earned this book a rarely-given-by-me five stars. I like the layout and composition. It's only lack is a comprehensive index... something sadly lacking in many books these days.

There’s not enough documentation in the book to be really helpful. The author explains a lot of things, but he doesn’t provide much actual data. The information in it needs to be updated as well. It’s getting pretty old.

Obviously, Sean Hyland has done a bunch of mod motors and R&D over the years. The review of different heads and intakes is nice, and seems spot on. How to modify intakes seemed a little vauge, but not bad. There's a few combos in the back of the book that probably would help some guys get an idea of what to build. There's a good source of info about superchargers!There's some engine build-up stuff in there, and lots of pictures, but I thought he could have been a bit more specific about actually building the engine step by step. I liked the parts where he told about past failures, and what he learned from them. I also liked his description and instructions for head porting. He doesn't explain how to do it as much as he does what to do. With a little existing knowledge about porting, you'll be able to gain from this.Overall, I thought the book was really decent and worth buying.

Everyone who has a Jehovah Witness in their family must read this book. It is so accurate and really helps understand how the Jehovah Witness is a Cult. This book exposes this Cult. This Cult is extremely dangerous as it separates families and refuses to acknowledge our Flag, our Military and our great Country. They pull their children out of school so the little ones are not exposed to anything except this Cult teaching. I have n ever seen anything like this blind Cult.

Old information! Hope to find something more up to date! At any rate, am on my guard against these deceivers!

Dense and seemingly exhaustive in its research this book was a tedious read at best. The author's choice of words and phrasing feel as if it was written in the late 1800s; so much so as to be annoying as if the author believes he is from the period that he is writing about.The Pros:In depth and detailedThe Epilogue was the best part; it would have been better if the entire book was like this.The Cons:1) The author dives deep into technical aspects of electricity that nearly requires an engineering degree (he does this constantly) which became distracting for me as I wanted to understand as much as possible about the tech as it pertains to the story.2) The author tells things out of sequence and refers back to prior chapters while also interjecting facts and details at random before and after the particular time or topic has been explored (he does this constantly as well)3) He paints an unbalanced representation of Tesla as a conniving huckster that lived an unfortunate life. (granted some books over-glorify Tesla and ignore the fact that he often failed to execute on his inventions).4) The last 100 pages (not kidding) are notes on sources, references, indexes...more tediumIn spite of the perspective in this book, Edison was a self-centered jackass that history treated all too well.Why did I complete It?I'm not a quitter and hoped that it would all be worth it in the end.Why not 1 or 2 stars?Other than the annoying points above, it's not a bad book, just not for me.Final Thoughts:I love Tesla's work and the visionary that he was and also find his quirks and tortured nature interesting. He was the original mad scientist and a charming and brilliant one at that. I'm going to read 'A Man Out of Time' next as I feel that will be more enjoyable.

I've read a lot of Tesla biographies, but this one takes the prize. I haven't quite finished it yet, but find it as 'unputdownable' as any mystery novel. The politics, mystery and intrigues that surrounded Tesla's life are brought to life here, along with a good understanding of electrical technology in general during the subject period. This is not a 'technical' book, but Tesla's major inventions and experiments are covered in sufficient detail and in an easy-to-understand manner. This book is well footnoted for those who whish to dig deeper into the hundreds of references.

Finally, here's a full-scale, believable biography of Tesla without the new-age and false-science crap encountered in so many other writings on this man. Most statements of fact are footnoted and plenty of Tesla's actual patent diagrams are presented. While some have criticized this book as overly technical, for me it wasn't nearly technical enough (I was an electronics professional in my working years). Instead, the author focuses on Tesla's mental processes as an inventor and how his quirky personality and showmanship influenced his work, successes and failures. Would Tesla's wireless electrical power scheme have worked? The author doesn't clearly answer this question. The list of references and sources would be valuable for anyone who seeks to further investigate Tesla's inventions and his long and still mysterious life.

There are oodles of books on electrical innovator Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), too many of them filled with tall tales and wishful thinking. A few date back a century or more, but most have appeared since Tesla's death. Carlson, who teaches in the engineering school at the University of Virginia, has gotten behind the Tesla cultists to relate the fascinating story of the man's life, inventions, and eventual failure and sad end. Supported by clear diagrams and photos, 50 pages of notes, and a useful discussion of available sources, Carlson's biography is both readable and credible, which can't be said of most earlier Tesla books. One by one, Carlson takes on and debunks the wilder tales of what Tesla did or did not accomplish, those who conspired for or against him, and various might-have-beens. The truth is amazing enough, even or perhaps especially after all the years of silly whoopla is scraped away. This is a sensible, documented, and insightful telling of a fascinating life.

Carlson’s Tesla book is a great read. Tesla books tend to deify the man. Carlson’s Tesla book makes a more objective assessment of Tesla and his accomplishments. Although I like placing Tesla on a high pedestal (certainly way above Edison (ruthless) and Marconi (hack)), Carlson offers a fresh perspective and a balanced view, in a well researched and footnoted book. Carlson provides a lot of detail about Tesla's business dealings and cogent explanations for why many of his visions were never realized, and makes a valiant attempt to explain the technology for a non-technical audience. Carlson also provides the best explanation I have seen for the U.S. Government’s involvement with Tesla’s papers after his death. I would have liked to see more about Tesla’s deal with the Soviet’s in the 1930s (p. 388), but that information is probably unattainable (someone should write THAT book). Great job!

I loved this book. Many of the Electronics/Electrical professional think the books is short on technical details and many of the new age mystics, conspiracy enthusiasts think the book is to dry and confusing. That is a good indication that the author got the balance correct. I thought the author did a fabulous job in balancing the story. The really difficult part of understanding the genius of Tesla is trying to keep an 1890's mindset while reading what is taking place.And - the author did not imply that Tesla was a homosexual. He merely stated that some thought that he might have been, and followed that by stating that there is no firm evidence that he was. So to me, that's just part of the story. I am very sensitive to modern liberal jingoism in books and I never got that impression here. An excellent book about a truly incredible personality. Thank you Bernard Carlson!
