Enjoyed the book. As an employee of a municipality, (non profit) it opened my eyes to the innovate or die mentality that most businesses face today. The fact that they hired Booze Allen, a business consultant, but were still unable to turn things around coupled with some bad luck timing wise was very interesting.Interesting that CEO Nance attempted to borrow more money from the bank(s) that refused spelled the end.

Not quite as dismal as the title. Plenty of information not available elsewhere. Very readable. Provides a feel of the personalities. Very few good photos.

James Ward has researched, compiled, and written a fine explanation for those of us who admire the great American cars, especially the Packard. Well done!

My boyfriend Tom is an automotive historian, who has read this book before--LOVED IT & was waiting for a good price to add it to his colection. The item's condition was truly worthy of the FINE historical account he KNEW it to be. So we're both VERRY happy with Amazon. If you want a REVIEW of the book ITSELF--Tom says it's a MUST-HAVE for ANY serious Packard fan & a SHOULD-HAVE for any fan OR student of independent auto-makers in general!

Excellent book, not only for Packard fanciers but also for those in marketing and product planning. Authoritative and detailed.

Some good info here, but the overall book is a little bit dry. Mr Ward uses a lot of sources for his writings here, but I get the sense he never really tells us what his opinion is of the reason the Packard Motor Car Company failed. Still, I enjoyed the book but it could have been better.

If you are a car person and are old enough to remember your Dad telling you about a Packard - this is a good read. It carries you through the blunders of bad marketing, great workmanship and the desire to be all things to all buyers. It can be a slow read at times but details the business side of the Packard.

This is an excellent history of the last decade of operation of a once proud company and the man who tried to save it. It presents company president James Nance as a talented executive whose strategies were constantly thwarted by fast moving events beyond his control.It provides an excellent analysis of the trends in the market that the after World War II, the problems faced by the independent auto manufacturers, and the variety of responses their respective company presidents made.The author does an excellent job of tracing the decision making process by company executives and their board of directors despite the fact that company records were burned shortly after the band was dropped.

The heroine has two lovers - and is in love with both of them - hard choices are awaiting the reader and heroine. It’s a true triangle love story and it will be perfectly enjoyable for anyone who loves the triangle trope.I would consider this book erotica just because the sexual aspect of the story was domineering during the first half of the book. It actually overshadowed some of the plot, and because of it felt a bit like smut without a real plot. The actual story took off around 58%, and managed to throw me for a loop again. There were a couple twists and turns that I did NOT see coming - and thought they were incredibly well done and certainly kept me on my toes.I’m not a hardcore fan of triangle love stories, and because of this UnderTow didn’t speak to me the way it might speak to others. Nevertheless the book is well written, and just the twists alone are reason enough to pick it up.

I am not going to lie to you fine people: this is one wild book.Madison is a California girl, lush in her mid-twenties, and utterly confident. When she literally falls into Stewart, a wealthy, sophisticated, successful entrepreneur, she also falls into a sexual union with him. The two begin to see each other; Madison makes herself available for him whenever he needs her. They meet at his office, in his home, at swanky parties. Madison enjoys sex, and she has found herself a man who will give it to her with raw, hard passion.But Stewart is concerned. He knows that Madison likes sex enough to partake of it with other men. His concerns about her safety lead him to suggest that she get a boyfriend. She laughs it off until she meets Paul, a carefree, sweet surfer who also knows his way around a mattress. I don't usually read love triangle books, but I read everything by Alessandra Torre. I am so glad I read this book. It's not your typical triangle or cheating story. I loved Madison and was surprised that I did. I loved both the guys. Then there was a twist that had me saying "wait, what?!" Alessandra really threw something in there that I never saw coming and destroyed me. I never cry but I was so heartbroken at the choices that needed to be made. This book blew me away!

Stewart or Paul? That's a difficult decision to be made! But it was not a difficult decision to read this book! I knew it wouldn't disappoint. Super sexiness on every page! You'll need a cold shower after this book! Enjoy!
