The reading gives way to some awesome photography of these areas in Utah, with some wonderful captures of the Parks in their full color! This book should be introduced of the National parks and Monument stores/visitor centers for sale as a souvenir to Park goers, since the photography is way better than the Average visitor might achieve! I have purchased a few more to share with other lovers of the Utah Parks this Christmas Season! Thank you to both Authors for a wonderful book to share our experiences with others through a more informed source as well as our own less professional pictures!

The photography certainly shows the variety of wonders that Utah has to share with the world. I appreciated the layout of the photos, but would have appreciated a caption on each one, BUT not having them did not take away from the loveliness of the entire book. The writer did a great job of describing the wonders of each park and some of the photos. I loved it. It makes me want to travel to Utah, again, to see the wonders I have not seen yet! Congratulations to the photographer and writer.

I’m so very disappointed. I bought this book as a gift, but when it arrived the cover was all scratched up. Also, although the pictures inside are beautiful, the printing colors were very distorted. I can imagine that the original photographs must’ve been breathtaking. But this book is cheaply printed. I am returning it.

They seem like nice photos, but the printing quality does not do them justice. Most images are dark, not vibrant as you’d expect from a photo book. Also, be warned this book is smaller than most photo/coffee table books. I failed to check that before ordering but wasn’t impressed with the size when I opened it.

I give it four stars. Having visited the parks, I enjoyed seeing the many places I had experienced through the eyes of such a creative photographer. Now I want to visit those places photographed that I missed. I liked the history, geographical and human, included by the author. The text was a bit too flowery for my liking.

The narrative that accompanies each photo tells the story behind the exquisite photo! Viewing these photos and reading the narrative will make you want to visit Utah to experience this scenic wonderland for yourself. I highly recommend this book.

Amazing photography and informative writing. I have seen some of these sights, but never like this. It makes me want to go explore the wonders of Utah again and see all these amazing places. I believe that this was Chetna's first book after the GBB Show, and it's as much a return to India for her as it is a recipe book. Full of stories and recipes, I found it a very enjoyable book, but then I enjoy a cookbook that is more than just a compendium of recipes.

Beautiful photography and delicious recipes. I particularly enjoyed the informative storytelling behind the various regions of India. A lovely addition to any cook’s bookshelf!

This book has many photos, and the author talks about many of the foods she has tried. Lots of stories and photos will keep the reader engaged. Breaks down the different foods by regions in the country. Recommended.

There are some specialty Indian ingredients to purchase, but all are readily available online, if one does not have an Indian grocery store nearby.I've been cooking Indian food for over 30 years and have more than my fair share of Indian cookbooks, but this one is unique in that it focuses on Indian street foods and snacks. Now, the only problem I'm faced with is... which recipe to make first!If you love Indian food like I do, buy this book. You will not be disappointed!

I found it very helpful for those getting started with IF and with the suggestions in the book, making this a very doable lifestyle plan for those interested.I highly suggest this read if you are looking to improve your life through IF.

Poorly written. Contains contradictory information. Appears to be just a quick attempt to jump on the fasting bandwagon. That said, please don't let this discourage anyone from trying intermittent fasting. It is working for me and nowhere near as difficult as I thought it would be.

I really enjoyed reading this and learned quite a few new things. I already knew that fasting was effective for weight loss but was surprised to learn how many other health benefits it has. For instance, how fasting could help to improve our leptin and insulin or even be used to help treat cancer and diabetes. Great book, do yourself a favor and read this.

So far so good! Not completely done

My friend told me about her nightmare. She was told half truths about the position as a medical -surgical nurse at a presstigious hospital in my area. It took only a few weeks off orientation to realize this was a mistake, but she was too late to return to her old job at a competing medical center. I was about to make a similar mistake, but another friend told me about this book. I got a copy and I read how some nursing recruiters and nurse managers are not up front about the challenges of the position for fear of scaring off the candidates. This book told me questions to ask throughout the interviewing process that highlight potential problems before I give up my current job. Futhermore, the book gives suggestions on how to strategically leave a nursing position that is not working out. Very insightful. I agree with the other reviewers that this is a must read if you are thinking about changing jobs.

I thought getting through nursing school and passing the boards was tough until I force to look elsewhere for a new nursing position after eight years working for my hospital. The hospital was merging and I was one in the group of nurses who were terminated. The hunt for a new job was tough because I had no clue on how to apply other than completing an online application. Cracking The Nursing Interview was a godsend. It gave me clues on beating the computers that filter resumes and hints on preparing to impress the recruiter. The best was providing the nursing knowledge that I needed to pass the pre-employment nursing tests. I’m a great cardiac nurse but I’m the first to admit that I need to brush up on nursing basics to get through those pre-employment nursing tests and technical interviews. This book has most of what I needed to know about getting them to look at me and the nursing knowledge that I seemed to have forgotten. I found this book a good investment.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to enter the nursing profession or change specialties. It covers everything you need to know about interviewing for a new position within the profession, but it also helps anyone who may be thinking about switching careers. It's a great resource

This is my favorite book! A Tale of love, determination and purpose! It was beautiful told in a way that you can imagine the characters in your head playing out like a movie! I couldn't put this book down until I found out if Anpao would get to be with Ko-Ko-mik-e-is or not. A book that I hold on to forever and recommend to everyone!

Anpao is written by Jamake Highwater, a Plains Indian. He has created the character, Anpao, a young boy with a human mother and fathered by the sun. What makes this story so extraordinary is that the author has used the character Anpao, as an American Indian Ulysses. He has taken the oral stories of the Plains and Southwest Indians and combined stories and songs from various tribes to create a chronological timeline of the American Indian, as told through centuries of Indian tribal lore and beliefs. Spiced with mysticism, this is a smooth flowing and riveting tale of adventure through young Anpao from the rise of the American Indian, to the collapse of the early Indian culture due to white men's horses, guns, trains, machinery, diseases, and the killing of the buffalo. This is an excellent example of the literature and spirit of the American Indian.

This 1977 extended tale presents many stories transmitted by proud oral tradition—blending the composite of pre Colombianbeliefs and values of several North American Indian tribes. Carefully preserved in written format these tales represent more than mere fireside entertainment; they express the sacred ideologies of the first Americans. The morals expressed in this pseudo anthology, however,are not always immediately apparent to Europeanized “civilization.” Divided into four main sections, this tapestry of tales is followed by the Storyteller’s Farewell, Notes on the author’s diverse sources, and a Bibliography for further study. The creation myths (not to belittle their relevance to native American cultures) deal with the cosmos, the genesis of earth, and sky gods; the tales progress to the making of Man, the arrival of Evil in the form of sorcerers; thence to Man’s interaction with many animal “people” (like Raven and Coyote); concluding with the negative and destructive impact of the inevitable collision with White Men. The protagonist, Anpao, does not represent any one heroic figure who is found in all tribal legends. He embarks on a quest to remove the scar from his face and to find his father, the Sun, so that he may ultimately marry a beautiful Indian girl—who serves as his inspiration for a remarkable and painful odyssey to the World-above-the-World. I believe that Highwater has woven hints of the universality of human nature—that there is a touch of Anpao in each of us. We journey through life seeking its very source, meaning and final goal. After buying and reading the book - I feel that this age range (stated on amazon.com as 8 and up) is off and that the book is better suited to older readers - I would say at least 10 and up, maybe 12. This is because book covers various sensitive subjects including: suicide, sexual predators online and at the mall, and being pressured to go to boy/girl parties and play games like spin the bottle and truth or dare.It's important to note that these sensitive topics are covered in (what I consider to be) a careless way. For example, the suicide issue comes up early in the book under "nosy questions." For me, this was really a problem - my young reader wasn't familiar with the term and had questions about it that I'd rather have waited to deal with. It was so very stupid to include this question because, seriously, under "nosy questions" there were a hundred other topics they could have used there and to bring up suicide in a book rated for 8 and up was way off the mark.Beyond this, I felt that there were a number of other, similar, issues - as listed above. I felt that these topics were not essential to the topic of good manners and did not need to be included here. They would have been better in a book for older kids and also in a book on different topics - maybe they need to write a smart guide to starting to date or a smart guide to staying safe online and at the mall; overall, I just didn't feel they were necessary to learn about good manners or that they were age appropriate for 8 year olds.

Very good book. With all AG books we read the them before we have our daughter read them. This had very good content, was super helpful and very practical. Our daughter loved the quizzes. I agree with some other reviewers that some sections were inapplicable for an 8 year old, namely a section on what to do if you're at a party and everyone decides to play "spin the bottle."

My granddaughter reports that these newer American Girl books are better :). Better pictures, she says. My daughter says she has been reading this one faithfully. Good manners are never out of place and this grandmother is glad for any opportunity to reinforce them. Parents have so many admonishments as well as lessons that sometimes getting the information from a source of this type makes a bigger impression than you'd think. The child takes it in at her own pace when she's in the mood to learn. Highly recommended.

My daughter is ten going on eleven and this is a nice way to give her some reminders with out working to hard or being overbearing. She really seemed to enjoy reading it and sharing points from this book with me and the family. She's a fairly mature tween so I didn't know if she would think this book was silly but she seems to really like it. Actually so far everything she has gotten from this series she has loved.

I love the smart girl's guide books, but I would recommend "Smart Girls Guide to Knowing What to Say" over this one. This one was a tad too wordy on the pages and I know my daughter lost some of the info that way.

Very impressed with the book. We have learned a lot. Daughter has learned how to set the table and what is polite and what is rude. This is so important given that kids are not taught manners these days. I really recommend it. My 7 year old loves it and refers to it often.

This little book is great for knowing what's appropriate to say in different circumstances. It helps avoid misunderstandings due to well-meaning, but not appropriate responses (an example being "At least they're in a better place" when someone passes away. This may not be the best thing to say to someone who is grieving). There's many other examples in this book.

We enjoy the American girl series. We have several different ones, this one in particular.My daughter to keeps them in her room...she enjoys them and often times they open up conversation without my having to pepper her.
