I acquired it at the advice of my Conscious Uncoupling coach as I faced the dark abyss of divorce from my husband of eight years. Every possible feeling of abandonement and worthlessness surfaced, and in spite of the urge to protect myself by getting angry and blaming everything on him, I dove deep inside of myself and discovered the ways in which I had implicitly agreed to be treated in the ways he was treating me...because they were mirroring the ways I was treating myself! After making that mind-blowing discovery, I committed to connecting with and prioritizing the happiness of my inner child, who was feeling worthless and abandoned by me. Once I began putting her needs first, listening to her input and taking loving action on her behalf, I started noticing some pretty significant positive shifts in the ways I was relating to the people in my life. I'd like to say that everything worked out with my husband, but that's not the case. We're still getting a divorce, but I see this as a chance to move on from my old paradigm and into a healthy new one, where I can give and receive the love I deserve. Now just imagine if all of the world leaders did this kind of work, instead of allowing their inner toddlers to run the show. It's up to us to step up and be leaders in our homes, peer groups and communities by taking on the responsibility to be there for ourselves and make sure that our needs are getting met--not at the expense of, but in concert with, those around us. If just a few of us step up, it can make a huge difference in the world. Get the book, do the work, and experience real and lasting peace, happiness and freedom in your life! I believe in you!

Incredibly deep book, this coupled with DBT therapy, has changed my life, (I have Borderline Personality Disorder) I never quite understood the talking to the stuffed animal thing, but damn does it work. I still ignore my inner child from time to time, but I have certainly learned a lot more about myself than ever before because of this book. I know with time, I will be able to apply the principals in this book more effectively, and ultimately, it'll lead to life-changing things.

This is a sequel to Healing Your Aloneness. It really could have been added onto the first book and re-published that way. It is very helpful to learn about the inner child dialogue process between the adult and child inside your head. There are many more helpful diagrams in this book than there was in the first book. This book is not just a review of the first book, it is much more than that. It in many ways explains the concept more clearly, with stronger (if lesser) examples. This book is written loudly and clearly, whereas the first book had some ideas that weren't explained as well as they are in this one. This book is for those who want to do serious work on themselves, for those in recovery from addictions, from codependency, from addictive relationships, overeating etc. But it is also for anyone who, as the previous book's title states, is lonely and doesnt know why. Inner Bonding is the solution to loneliness because it teaches me to be there for myself. This book is also spiritual, in that it reaches down to a deep level and transforms my life, daily. It teaches an inner habit. Truly an amazing habit and practice.I should warn you that God is mentioned in this book as part of this process that is needed. If you read the first book, a 'higher power' is mentioned in that book. It is helpful to believe in some sort of higher intelligence to do this process, and one does not have to actually believe in God for it.

One of the best psychology books I've ever read. If you start practicing, the work is incredibly profound, triggering the deepest therapeutic work I've ever done even after years of therapy. Highly recommend, but it requires difficult work but strikes to the core. I cannot recommend more highly.

This is a great book. Everyone should know about the inner child, those wounded parts of us that had to cope in childhood with difficult conditions and through which we developed mechanisms that still affect us today.This book shows us how to be in touch with that part, take care of it and free ourselves of the traps we fall into. A new twist on transference and how to deal with it, that is, how the present becomes the past and how much we are unaware of it.Highly recommend.

Inner Bonding was introduced to me at a time in my life when I was ready to heal the child within me. This book explained the process of "inner bonding" so beautifully and gave many examples to help me understand the process completely. I recommend it as often as possible to friends and family who have the need to heal from past pain. It was a life changing book for me.

Very good book. Sound approach to getting at ones personal issues. I had never heard of the author and approached it with enormous skepticism. I was very surprised to find such solid information. The Inner Bonding approach may seem strange to some but I guarantee it will reach some very sensitive spots that will bring some wanted and unwanted revelations.

As someone who has been on a self discovery path for years with mixed results, I continued to struggle with the self hated and shame that I could not access or understand even when I know better. Discovering this book and process has given me tools to access and work with these deeply ingrained beliefs that have caused all manner of problems in my life. I have far to go still, but I am finally able to get to the root of my issues and am learning to love myself and be a loving adult to my inner child.

I read The Borden Murders in one gulp. Then I went back and re-read it. It's that interesting a topic, and Sarah Miller handles it in a way that makes for a compulsive page-turner. I knew that it was targeted at a younger audience than I fit into (ahem), but I have to tell you --- if this is what middle-school readers are capable of understanding, then more power to them. The writing is lucid and she makes the actual timetable of the murders understandable in terms of where everyone was, or at least claimed to be (no mean feat). The book is also scrupulously fair in regard to the identity of the murderer. Miller frankly admits that in the end, she is still in the dark. But for many readers, she will have accomplished an enormous achievement in regard Lizzie Borden's reputation. Miller argues the case for an unknown murderer so well that even those disposed to believe that Lizzie did do it must concede that much of the evidence has been organized so poorly that we have not heard the case against Borden as the killer.Did she persuade me that Lizzie was innocent? No, but the book made me want to argue about it!The photos are well chosen, and not gruesome. Miller skims lightly over the most obvious explanation of Lizzie's infatuation with Nance O'Neill and Emma's departure from their shared home. Mustn't scandalize the younglings.This is a terrific read at any age. I only wish that books about topics this well-handled had been available when I was in middle school, but of course the printing press had only just been invented.

I enjoyed reading all the details and facts about the case and it has got me thinking a bit more deeply about Lizzie. It is quite interesting how ill equipped the law was for dealing with an alleged murderess during the 1890s. I do wonder if any evidence could of been preserved if we could know the truth in the present. As I read through Sarah Miller’s historical review of the case I did find my mind did not change on the main question of did she do it? I believe she did but that her sister was also involved in some way.

Well written, not at all dry, really interesting and the author just reports the facts. We'll never really know if Lizzie Borden actually killed her father and step mother. Where is the murderer weapon, and why was all the focus on Lizzie and not her older sister? Even the uncle and servant was a suspect. Or were both sisters in on it?

This was a really fascinating look at a morbid piece of history. We may never know what really happened but the facts laid out in this book were intriguing. Lizzie may have been found innocent in a court of law but was definitely guilty in public opinion. The entire situation is just sad.

I was first introduced, over fifty years ago, to the infamous Lizzie Borden through a high school production of a play called The Legend of Lizzie. Then in 1967, I purchased Victoria Lincoln’s book A Private Disgrace. I thought it was the ultimate resource book for Lizzie’s murders. (The author of the book I’m reviewing here says that Lincoln, who was a neighbor of Lizzie Borden, wrote a book that was quite flawed.) Then I went on to Agnes DeMille’s A Dance of Death, an account of DeMille’s research into the Borden murders in preparation for her ballet Fall River Legend. Since all that, I’ve also seen a couple of movies about the murders, so I feel like I’m steeped in the tale of Lizzie Borden. And now, along comes Sarah Miller’s The Borden Murders: Lizzie Borden and the Trial of the Century. I eagerly awaited the book, and although I can’t say that I overwhelmingly enjoyed it, I did find it an interesting addition to the lore I already knew. Miller has written a well-researched book, and she has humanized Lizzie in a way that I never saw before. The author sought out anecdotes and details that would show that Lizzie was a frightened young woman on trial. The outcome is not different from any other account, for this is history after all, but we do finish the book feeling differently about Lizzie and understanding the outcome of the trial a bit better. Miller’s book is supposedly written for young adults, but its subject matter and her approach are very adult. Teens will be engrossed in the book, but do not be fooled—this book is a welcome addition to Lizzie Borden lore, and adults will find it captivating. My one complaint is a minor one. Miller peppers the text with sidebars. I found the facts and tidbits in these sidebars to be fascinating, but I also found them a bit distracting, for I didn’t want to leave the flow of the story to find out such things as the difference between an inquest and a trial or how one kind of fabric differs from another. And yet, the sidebars enriched the story because this was all information that we likely, as modern readers, would not know. So I heartily recommend The Borden Murders for all ages.

This is so well written and well researched- I highly recommend it. I found out about it from a Pod cast about Lizzie Borden. The story is much more interesting and complicated than the old tales, songs or even recent films- would have you believe. If you are at all interested in what happened- this is the book for you. A real page turner.

First things first, if this had been any other author, I wouldn’t have even given the book a second look. The cover is not great, and not at all indicative of what’s contained within the pages. Lexi Blake is what drew me to this book and her unique ability to weave incredible romances into intense suspense novels, while also giving them an appropriate and natural BDSM flavor. Lost and Found delivered on each front and added unexpected richness into the saga of the Lost Boys.The Lost Boys have been fascinating to me since I first learned of them, when I found out we were going to meet someone who might have some insight into what was happening in Hope McDonald’s labs, I was ecstatic. While Lost and Found didn’t quite give me the enlightenment I was hoping for, it was full of revelations and incredible connections. I was so blown away by all of the insanity that was going on both in what the guys had experienced in the past and the lengths the forces conspiring against them in the present were going to.Owen and Rebecca’s chemistry and connection was immediate and consuming. I loved their meet-cute, and I don’t think their relationship would have felt as solid or real if they hadn’t experienced that intimate and intense. I loved that Rebecca made him work for it, that she protected herself and made sure she wasn’t mistaking sexual tension for real feelings. Owen and Rebecca were great together and pushed one another outside of their heads and to be more than they thought they could be.Lost and Found is the second book in Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries: the Forgotten series. The series is a spinoff from the Masters and Mercenaries series, but that series doesn’t have to be read before reading these books. I do think reading the first book in this spinoff series is necessary to the understanding of Lost and Found since there is so much that carries over from that book. Lost and Found is written in limited third-person perspective, alternatively following Rebecca and Owen’s thoughts.

Owen is considered one of the Lost Boys, he has no memory of his life before he was rescued. He thinks no one trusts him because before he lost his memory, he had turned two of his teammates in to the crazy doctor, Dr. McDonald, in exchange for his mother and sister. Rebecca is a child prodigy and is looking for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, a disease that took her mother at a young age. Now she’s working in a lab in Canada on a cure. The team thinks she might have some of the records the crazy doctor used on the boys. So Owen and several more go undercover in her building and her lab. Owen and his partner are supposed to be a gay couple that lives on her same floor but when Owen and Becca first meet, they are stuck in an elevator for hours together and they end up having sex in the elevator. So Owen goes under as her lover to find out just how close she worked with Dr. McDonald and where those records are. But someone else wants those records too and he’ll do anything to get them plus bring Becca down too.Awesome story. Funny, sexy, lies, action, and mystery. I love Lexi’s books and this one did not disappoint. A little BDSM and spanking. A little cliffhanger about who’s the mole on the team.

Owen has a painful past as when he was forced to choose between his family and his team he chose his family, not knowing that it was already too late. If that isn’t enough, he now finds himself with his memory wiped clear and determined to right the wrongs of the past which leads him to Rebecca’s door.Rebecca is an intellectual mastermind in the field of neurology and memory. She worked with Dr. Hope McDonald, the evil witch behind the memory loss, for a period of time so Owen and the team are determined to find out what she knows.Rebecca was only supposed to be a way of getting the information the team so desperately needs but from their first meeting all plans for that to be the case went up in smoke. They are drawn to each other in a way that neither expected but when he isn’t the only one that wants information from her it becomes a game changer.I really enjoyed these characters. Rebecca has an adventurous spirit that you don’t see coming and she brings out all of Owen’s protective instincts. The story manages to combine suspense, heat and intrigue all together into a perfect package.

Lexi Blake you are amazing. You had me from the first to and never fail to keep me coming back for more adventures. This series is amazing. Love the interaction between the characters and the Taggert-McKay series. The Lost Boys are evolving and I am so glad their stories are being told. I can only imagine the way they are going to let their stories unfold. The story of Becca and Owen was riveting. I read from cover to cover and still wanted more. Their interaction from the moment they met to the last chapter helped to define their relationship. I am enjoying their interaction not only with each other but the entire team. Can’t wait to see what happens next. So looking forward to the next book and seeing how Levi and the team progress. Have my own beliefs about he rogue agent but not sure. Looking forward to seeing if it’s who I think it is. Thanks for being such a great writer and thanks for your wonderful and amazing stories. You rock!

I have been there from the beginning, devouring every story in the Masters and Mercenaries series and their offshoots. Waiting patiently on the next installment of what these characters are up to. This new book didn’t disappoint! Owen is one of the lost boys that had their memories erased by Hope McDonald. And this is his story.This story follows Dr. Rebecca Walsh who used to work with Dr. McDonald. They want to see if she helped to wipe the lost boys memories or if she may be the key to help them find a way to reverse what was done to them.This story is filled with suspense, tender moments and many twists. Whether you have read another book in the series or not, there is enough backstory to be able to read this one. For me it was another hit and I can’t wait for the next story!

This book was delivered in excellent time and in the condition that was indicated in the advertisement! Wonderful!

If you are a high school or college drama teacher or forensics coach, you should have this book!!! The book contains original scenes that are great for Dramatic Duets for competition or for classwork. I can't wait for the release of the comedic scenes! I hope that this is the first of many in this series. To the authors: Please keep writing intelligent, challenging works that are appropriate for high school students!!

I was so lucky to stumble across this book and trust my instinct to buy it. The scenes in here are great for students, as well as actors in their 30's. I really enjoyed the variety of subject matter, tone, and characters. If you coach, as I do, this will save you and your students a great deal of valuable time. I have had success using these scenes in acting class, and can't wait to try some out with my duets next fall!

I am a forensics coach with a mostly female team. I was upset to find out there is not ONE scene in here for 2 females, it is all 1 male, 1 female. We are in DIRE need of great writing for women...why can't we find any? We need to stop this trend now!

Gr 4-6-Breslin retells 11 tales that she heard in childhood and researched in literary sources, featuring a kelpie, a dragon, a brownie, and other figures, some human and some magical. The collection begins with the repetitive tale of the wee bannock, cousin to the gingerbread man, running down the road and goes on to longer romances and quests. "Whuppity Stourie" is here, along with a Cinderella variant. Breslin seems particularly interested in independent women, and one story is an extended telling of "The Goshawk and the Brave Lady" from Sir Walter Scott's Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders. Well constructed for independent reading, the selections sometimes become lengthy with extended explanations, description, and conversation so they aren't well suited to reading aloud or storytelling. Each tale begins with brief commentary on its region of origin or the author's personal preference for it, but no specific print sources are provided. Leiper's drawings shaded in muted tones portray the characters handsomely in scenes placed variously on a full page, to one side of the text, or above or below it. The bold dragon on the cover suggests a scarier panoply than is actually found here, and the endpapers and matching pages to introduce each tale lend a dark and sophisticated tone with phrases in varying sizes of lavender text scattered across a purple background. Eleven stories in 155 pages. These are Scottish Folk Tales. Actually I was looking for Irish Folk Tales to use for St. Paddy's day, but when I came upon these I decided I couldn't pass it up. And it was a good choice. These stories are delightful and my girls love for me to read from the book.I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I was disppointed in the number of illustrations. The quality of them is quite good. but I was looking for an illustrated book with oodles and oodles of artwork. The illustrations here are often quarter page or one item on an otherwise blank page. Not a lot of detail even in the double fold illustrations. When it comes to children's books, I believe that the illustrations are as important as the text.I also was a little disapointed that the language of the book lacks the brogue I had hoped for. When I was a little girl, thre was an adorable little old lady who lived just down the road from my grandmother. She was Scottish from the old country. I could listen to her talk forever. I had hoped for some of that use of vernacular and was disappointed to find little of it. Some, but not enough.Still I would recommend the book.

This stories are not only entertaining, but written to help children understand part of the Scottish language.

Beautiful Book with great Celtic language in it. There is a reference in the back to some of the words. Wonderfully illustrated and great for kids. My niece is 7 and enjoying it.
